Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 14, 2019 9:25 am We had a new concrete walkway done 6 months back, the roof drainage is now currently draining onto the new concrete, staining it badly and making it look very unsightly. recalled having this conversation with the builder then, and he reassured me that this is the right way as the water is draining away from the house. looked back at my invoice, and i've been charged $500 for "supply and install drainage along the path". if you looked at the photos, there are no drainage to speak, isn't it? can i try to seek a solution with the builder?? Re: Drainage Issues along new concrete walkway 8Jun 18, 2019 10:15 am StructuralBIMGuy @Frustrated lady Welcome to the forum I suggest you check your engineering Drawings for Compliant Drainage details Then cross check with whats in the contract and what's been build and post back hah unfortunately there isn't an engineering drawing done for this job. initially just for concreting our new carport, however job extended to do new walkway to the front door with new drainage as the original drainage was an exposed curved drain along the house. so he said he will install a new drainage pipe under the new concrete he's pouring. but after the job is done, we found a long PVC pipe unused in the yard. the only thing he did is install a drainage pit, but that couldn't have cost $500, could it? Re: Drainage Issues along new concrete walkway 9Jun 18, 2019 11:59 am frustrated lady the only thing he did is install a drainage pit Have you taken the cover off to see if there is an outlet pipe? The set up looks amateurish but maybe that is how they do things where you are. Are you in QLD? 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage. Re: Drainage Issues along new concrete walkway 10Jun 18, 2019 12:50 pm yes we are in QLD. there is an outlet pipe as the original drainage was there. do you think i can submit a complaint with the QBCC for defective work? Re: Drainage Issues along new concrete walkway 11Jun 18, 2019 1:50 pm frustrated lady do you think i can submit a complaint with the QBCC for defective work? The NCC does not require stormwater to be discharged from the property and there even isn't the requirement to have gutters and downpipes but the water must not overflow to neighbouring properties. What you have is unlikely to be considered defective. Your complaint is more about not receiving what was agreed but when you are quoted for work, you need to get a written quote that describes the job and which preferably has diagrams. You need to speak on site to a local plumber about the issue and find out just what has been done and act on his information and possible advice. I can't tell from where I am what has and hasn't been done. Good luck. 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage. Cleaner Neater Smarter Cheaper Supa Gutter Pumper.
