Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 19, 2008 1:00 pm Hi,
I have been visit a few display homes using the Stegbar Aluminium Windows & doors. I found that thier products is not very solid. Compare to the other company like Jason, Affinity.... Stegbar Aluminium frame seem thinner. Do you guys agree that ? I just sign up a builder to build my dream home and being told that they using Stegbar Aluminium for Windows & Sliding Doors. Should i ask them to use other company? or you this Stegbar is good enough. Builder told me that other company need to add extra which i think Stegbar is cheaper than other company. is Stegbar good ? Re: Stegbar Aluminium windows & sliding doors Quality ? 2Sep 19, 2008 2:18 pm Hmmm. ...I am no expert but have had a couple of cr@ppy alumnium windows and doors replaced with Stegbar (admittedly Cedar) and am very very happy. Wish I could afford for them to do it all...and on that point I had *them* install rather than a builder; great job and, I think, probably a better job based on the experience/s of myself and other people I know.
FWIW - a little more relevant to your post - a friend is currently building a architect designed home that's costing them a tonne of cash and have gone for Stegbar <grey> aluminium all round and they look absolutely fabulous and fit like a dream Re: Stegbar Aluminium windows & sliding doors Quality ? 3Sep 19, 2008 2:57 pm Rather than speculate on the 'thinness' of their aluminium, ask your builder what warranty they are giving for their windows, 5 years, 10years or 15 years?
Then phone a few window companies and inquire what their standard warranty would be, then compare them all. Pat the draftie. Re: Stegbar Aluminium windows & sliding doors Quality ? 4Sep 19, 2008 3:48 pm Similar to _kelly_ ie. no claims to being an expert - but we have our aluminium sliding windows installed even though we are not at lockup yet and they seem quite solid to me. I have also been advised that about one week prior to handover a Stegbar technician will be coming out to instal our flyscreens and to check/fine-tune the windows and doors. So at this stage we are quite happy! If they are all right then i don't want to change it. Don't want to spend extra for nothing. Thanks everyone.
If you have a problem with Stegbar please let me know. Thanks Re: Stegbar Aluminium windows & sliding doors Quality ? 6Sep 20, 2008 8:59 am Are you sure that they are the same window frame? Perhaps the display home has semi commercial windows or commercial windows which differs in look and price substantially.
Semi and commercial windows have a thicker frame compared to standard window frames I have semi commercial windows and the difference in price was huge... I don't know them all, the first 2 top of your list are best known.
