Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 13, 2019 11:19 pm Hi everyone Was not sure under which topic to put it under. Had my home built in 2010 and since then have replaced pretty much all power points that I use at least once a week. Back plate breaks that causes issues when inserting power plugs. They seem to be an older type Clipsals, as the same plate new ones have a different backing. Is this a common issue? What is more reliable brand? I still have a few spares, just in case, but thinking for the future, in case these break the same way. I suggest you check with the WA building authority Who knows if they were new or old at the time they installed it. Don't care about what they did back then. More interested to know on what to replace them with if they fail again Re: Bad quality Clipsal power points? 6Apr 14, 2019 1:33 pm Sounds like they could have been faulty check to see if they have been recalled with the manufacturer hth Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Bad quality Clipsal power points? 8Apr 14, 2019 6:19 pm Sergey alexp79 I have recently ordered a number of cheap "noname" Chinese powerpoints from AliExpress and they have so much better quality and design than Clipsal, e.g.: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2-1A-Wall-Socket-Dual-USB-Port-Power-Adapter-Outlets-2-USB-ports-Panel-Universal-Plug/32959826045.html Sorry, but would not put these in my house - not certified and would be surprised if any electrician would actually install these. I have the ones which are certified. Surprisingly many of them do have SAA certification/approval those days, most of the certified vendors also provide certificates upon request and then they can be looked up: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/High-Tech-Double-USB-AU-Plug-Electrical-Wall-Socket-Home-Power-Point-Supply-Plate-2-Switch/32802624819.html On a separate side, Australian electrical standard CISPR 22 is an analog of European standard EN 55022, so CE marked product provide a comparable certification level and all of them are CE marked. A lot of people buy and bring in appliances from Europe, etc. Many electricians understand that pretty well, too.
