Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 11, 2019 2:44 pm Hi all, Our ensuite and upstairs floating vanities and sinks have been installed and they are just too high. Our approved joinery plans show the floating vanity 25cm off the floor, 38cm high cupboards, 17cm high stone bench top and a sink. The sink we chose is 13cm high. Now, the bathrooms have been completed but the sinks are too high. the top of the sink is at 103cm. My wife is about 160cm tall and the top of the sink is a few cm above her elbows which makes it impractical and inconvenient to use. We've gone back to the builder who said the vanity height is the standard height. We also measured the vanity and it is 35cm off the floor instead of 25cm. The builder is saying these measurements are just guidelines. Is this our fault? If we want to change the basin and or vanity or height of the vanity is this something we should pay for? Re: Height of ensuite vanity and sink 2Apr 11, 2019 3:09 pm I like how the builder says that the plans are just "guidelines". Then be guided by them. They are to high and it's simply the 100mm extra they have added underneath. You'll hate it forever more at that height (and so may future purchasers) so tell the builder you want it done as per the approved drawings not what they "think" is right. Some builders. You pay the money and the builder delivers what’s in the plan.so at a minimum you can expect them to fix it so it matches the plan. We had a similar situation with Metricon and received the same “just a guideline” response from the 5th site supervisor and management. After a month of bluffing they finally realised we would hold them to the contract and corrected the deviation to the plans. I understand many other Metricon customers are pressured to accept all sorts of errors made by contractors not following the plans. The site supervisors are very skilled at this game!
