Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 24, 2019 3:14 pm Looking for Help! I've recently been stripping my Merbau decking back as I had used a 'Merbau' tone oil which went too brown. I was previously using Cabots Natual decking oil which was petty good and I hope to return to this. I used Omo on repeated occasions which was taking it back quite well. I've also bought the Reviver which does a great job. I had a few edging areas and a whole step area which still had the older brown stain on - to which I attacked with Omo again, sprinkling on and leaving overnight. The next day when I went to pressure hose off all these areas have gone DARK. It seems all these areas now slimy too when wet making me assume I have the dreaded algie - the whole step area is black when wet and slippery all over. I've been reading on so many forums and tried the vinegar, the bi-carb soda, and more of the Reviver - all to no avail at this stage (have not tried the bleach yet). Maybe I've kept the area too wet? There has been a lot of rain lately. I'm now stressed to no end thinking the worst as the deck is huge and I've always maintained it very well. I'm prepared to sand the whole deck and I am now prepping for this hoping that if nothing else - I can sand back and reseal. I appreciate ANY advice! The warning is on the sticker on the door too.
