Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 24, 2019 8:34 am Hi We have just had a granny flat installed and it has 2 pex pipes hanging out of the side. 1 cold 1 hot. The pex pipe is 16mm. Our main water line coming from the meter is poly 25mm. Seems pretty straight forward put a T on the line and run the pipe underground to the granny flat. I'm just not sure how to connect 25mm to 16mm. Is there such a connector? I'm also thinking about putting some gal pipe over the 25mm that will come up from underground to give it some protection. Re: connect water mains to granny flat 2Feb 24, 2019 11:13 am this legally requires a plumber the fact you are unsure of a reducer and hot/ cold water makes me think you had better get a plumber what has granny flat plumber done with drain lines it sounds like an incomplete installation Re: connect water mains to granny flat 3Feb 24, 2019 5:00 pm thanks. I know which pipes are hot and cold and the granny flat has a tap on the cold and hot. I know i need a reducer I just can't find one. Thought I would ask here to see if there is some trick to it as it seems pretty straight forward to just connect 2 hoses together with a bit of teflon tape and the worst that can happen is I lose some water into the garden. The granny flat has been internally plumbed by a plumber. Yes drainage and sewage will be connected by a licensed plumber as I'm sure there is more involved to it. I would suggest you simply go and talk to council about your proposal, most councils are getting onboard with ancillary dwellings. There is no benefit in keeping it… 1 4123 I think I know the answer but just checking to see if anyone has had experience with it.
