Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 17, 2019 9:23 pm Hi All, Mimosa homes only offers 7 years of structural gurantee while other builders like Homebuyers, Metricon and Boutique offer 25 to 30 years. Is this something to consider while choosing a builder...anyone with Mimosa and happy with the build quality? Thanks in advance Re: Mimosa Structural Gurantee 2Feb 17, 2019 10:29 pm First of all, there is no guarantee that Metricon or Boutique will be on market in 25/30 years time. In fact, even next 10 years is under big question with a lot of new building technologies (prefab houses, building robots, 3D printed houses, new materials, etc.) coming on market as well as globalisation trends (materials coming out of China, Vietnam, etc. are much more affordable and have better quality) which will be introducing a lot of emerging players to the market, which should be able to push big project builders out of the market if they fail to adapt and it will be hard to do, considering their volumes. Only some will stay if they will be smart enough to recognise threat and move quickly through M&As or joint ventures. Secondly, their structural warranty has a lot of "terms" and "clauses" meaning that things like settlement cracks, moisture/water/maintenance related problems, force major related issues won't be covered. In fact, if you go through it, you will find out it is rather useless. EXCELLENT alexp 79, it also doesn,t apply when you sell and most wont own the same home anywhere near 25 years, they barely ever honour the minimum australian standards ,they make every excuse in the book to cover up,blame owners, cheap nasty fixs, we need everyone to open both eyes when building, not a pie in the sky display they never will get, great work. The next 10 years is a very big question on many fronts. 2020 will be a watershed year in the annals of recorded history. 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage.
