We have recently built with DFH and if we were to build again I would insist on metal roof with full timber structure, no metal struts. We have found this causes roof noise. We previously owned a brick veneer for 30 years with a metal roof and had no noise and the only difference seems to be the metal struts. We also had an independent inspector for the stage inspections which was very informative.
