Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 14, 2008 6:38 pm We are currently in the process of getting a quote from Masterton and we feel that we may have cause for concern.
We have made some substantial changes to the design which entail changes of windows for doors and rooms in place of the garage etc and Masterton have done an excellent job on quoting on these but come to the double glazed windows and they have given us a PA ($18,000) and will not give us a exact dollar figure or specifics aside from being Bradnams until we have the plans drawn up which will cost $4000. In addition we have requested changes to the kitchen and have been advised that we will have to play $500 to get the changes priced. Last but not least they state they need to get a Wind Speed Classification Assessment report ($280) and any additional costs raised by the report shall be borne by the owner accordingly. When I enquired of a PA price so that we budget they replied that no report so no PA possible yet they are currently building 2 houses in the estate and as such I presumed that they would have a fair indication of what to expect and thus be able to give us a PA on this. Am I being too paranoid about the builder getting some good ones i.e. $$ in on these items after we paid them to have the plans drawn up? Thanks in advance. Cheers, Teddy Bär Re: Issues getting quotes from builder/s 2Sep 14, 2008 6:46 pm Why not get your own wind classification done and then pass this on the the builder. Keep doing this until they give you a fixed price. Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Thanks. I called VBA today and they said it was a Consumer Affairs issue, the old handball. Seems like the government organisations don't want to do their job at the moment. 2 7556 Use a product like Equisol's Vitalise to clean the deck then coat with a penetrating timber oil.
