I have recently bought an early 1970s house which has asbestos ceilings with acoustic tiles stuck over it throughout. I would like to eventually remove the asbestos material but having the budget to do that is years away, so I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas to tidy things up a bit in the short term?
The asbestos is all in really good condition so it isn't a health hazard, but man the tiles are ugly!
You can see that someone has made a "feature" of it by applying some thicker tiles randomly. I suspect they couldn't get the same type of tile anymore and just stuck some standard 10mm polystyrene tiles down instead.
There's also the challenge of working around the lighting and air conditioning ducting so I'm not sure what to do.
Can anyone recommend something to cover this up without removing the ceiling?
