They have actually raised a variation once we agreed on the above and it was at that exact price for the remedial work. However because they missed pricing something else (we had a meeting with the electrician on site, and was advised to add few things), that variation was pulled after we advised that 'electrical changes as per plan provided by electrician' shouldn't be at no cost. The new variation with the previously missing pricing for the electrical additions is at $10k: 3k for remedial work, 4k for pulling things out and putting it back, 3k for the electrical additions. Re: Building first home, need an opinion on variation fees 5Jan 18, 2019 8:58 pm Just giving our final update on this: We were in contact with a law firm for legal advice, in the mean time our Client Liaison said she would talk to management to negotiate our issue. 2 days later we've been informed that the builder will absorb the cost because we have proof that we've informed our prestart assistant about our intention to use tiles on the second floor. We're now back to our original agreed quote.
