Browse Forums General Discussion Re: How much for a small concrete slab? 2Sep 12, 2008 10:07 pm there are quite a few variables that go into quoting concrete best to get a contractor out there if your not to sure on exact specs of slab build. Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com Re: How much for a small concrete slab? 4Sep 16, 2008 6:57 pm our slab for the shed 9x4.2 with a bit of excavation ans a pump is $4400 or $5000 for coloured.
Its also very thick - not sure how thick my mind turned off when DH was telling me about it Paula Re: How much for a small concrete slab? 6Sep 17, 2008 5:28 pm Yep, just got a quote for a small area in our backyard-to-be and side passage for $55/sqm and an extra $18/sqm for colour. Hope this helps. 'We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.' - Winston Churchill Re: How much for a small concrete slab? 7Sep 26, 2008 10:05 am Just so Y'all know, concrete costs about $220 per m3, that'l give you about 10m2 of 100mm thick concrete, if you add the cost of steel to that = massive saving (providing you are handy with the tools and have helpful friends)
My advice is give it a go on a small piece about 2 m2 (mix your own concrete) and see how it goes. Does anybody know how much steel reinforcing for a driveway/patio costs? Re: How much for a small concrete slab? 8Sep 29, 2008 11:11 pm stu Just so Y'all know, concrete costs about $220 per m3 That is very expensive! I don't know if that's a price for high strength concrete or just the price for the average Joe that walks in from off the street...? Re: How much for a small concrete slab? 9Sep 30, 2008 9:15 pm That would be the price you would get from Readymix, and yes concrete is quite expensive, but its even more expensive if somebody lays it for you.
If you do manage to get a quote for $50 per square meter (laid with reinforcement) it would still cost you $500 for the equivalent 10m square. Of course the savings will depend on the cost of reinforcement for your DIY slab. Anybody bought reinforcement grid lately? I pay ~ $150 m3 for supply from direct mix.... I usually get the steel supplier to quote for a whole job including fabric, rods, ligatures etc. What size fabric are you after? RF72, RF92? Re: How much for a small concrete slab? 11Oct 04, 2008 9:36 pm Oh umm! fabric... is that what an amature would call "the steel grid stuff"?
As for the spec, whatever would normally be used for a driveway I guess. How come you get concrete for such a good price? Im asuming that us mere mortals wouldnt be able to get it at that price would we? Re: How much for a small concrete slab? 12Oct 04, 2008 10:06 pm fabric is the correct industry term for reinforcement mesh
most retail suppliers refer to it as mesh grid isnt a name for reinforcement it is a term used in relation to the square setout of the reinforcement fabric ie : sl62 has a grid of 200mm with a 100mm side lap rl62 has a grid of 100mm there is no golden rule for driveway reinforcement type, the type should be chosen to suit the application Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com Re: How much for a small concrete slab? 13Oct 04, 2008 10:17 pm also rf fabric refers to no ribbed wire (old style of fabric / mesh)
rl and sl which is used 99% of the time is ribbed some suppliers still refer to sheets as 'f' series out of habit Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com Last year I had a gas leak at my house. 3 days later, I have about 1 sqm of my exposed aggregate paving broken up. I am not sure how to go about getting it repaired… 0 8122 The concreter will take and reuse. In my case I bought structural LVLs and scraped them back and used them as joists. 1 3526 yep, clearly mark where the infloor heating pipes are before drilling or nailing 1 5463 |
