Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Dec 02, 2018 7:34 am I would like to seek an advice from anyone here regarding the building tender. We weren't able to start the building of our house due to the delay of land registration which was supposed to happen last December 2017. A new land developer took over because the previous one got bankrupt. We signed with bellriver homes and our building tender expired last April 2018. I had contacted our relationship manager and asked if we could sign a new tender so we can lock-in the price for another 12months but told me that it would not happen and she advised that we can only sign a new tender once the land has been registered which clearly means we need to pay more. I found it very unfair but is this how it really works? Thank you for your help. Re: Expired Tender 2Dec 02, 2018 3:52 pm Don’t be too disappointed. I don’t know how it works for all builders but the way Dawson worked is once you sign a tender you have a certain period until the tender expires. Once it expires if you haven’t started building you pay an extra $1200 a month to lock in the original price. So really you will end up being better off just waiting for everything to be ready and then sign it once the land is registered. Check your contract on the land and all the other paperwork to make sure there are no other surprises. Good luck Re: Expired Tender 3Dec 04, 2018 3:54 pm Hi Mel.G, I am not sure where you are located, but I've found (as a builder) that supply costs have increased in the last 12 months. It's tough as a builder that we do want client's work, but we also need to make money, otherwise what's the point! Everything goes up as time goes on, unfortunately wages don't follow suit! I think it really comes down to how much has it risen and are they able to 'adequately' explain that rise. For example if it went up a couple of %, I'd think this is fairly fair, but if it went up 5-10% without explanation, they may be having you on. So, maybe wait, then confirm how much it has gone up (if it has) and then ask for a breakdown why. You are still their customer, and they are in a customer service industry! Hey. Head to a metal and decide on which profile you will use first. Profiles with larger corrugations can greatly change the appearance of the color in different… 0 3387 |
