Theres three rooms on that side of the house where l noticed the slight slope, the room that has carpet you don't notice the slope only the rooms with vinyl floors, if there was carpet you probably wouldn't notice the slope, so its only slight. Is it possible the house was just built that way,its on short steel post, maybe they just didn't get it totally straight , anyway l will find out in Decemeber when the builder comes to look.l have only noticed three hairline cracks around the house no big cracks or anything else, if the house was sloping down on one side would there big large cracks Re: settlement, foundation problems legal rights 22Nov 22, 2018 10:51 am Large cracks start off small. It is impossible to give advice without being on site but taking some subsurface soil moisture samples at various depths may be in order. Tree roots don't have to spread to the house to dry the soil, drying happens through a phenomena called matric suction. If you Google the term, you will find a lot of information. One of our websites had a page dedicated to trees and matric suction explained but I deleted it last year. The link further below is to the replacement page with non technical basic information about trees but one keypoint that that is important to understand is that the tree's canopy ensures that the ground inside the canopy's drip line is always drier (higher matric suction) that the surrounding soil. Trees are heavy drinkers and you could satisfy their thirst by diverting stormwater to gravity fed drip hoses to help rehydrate the soil inside the drip line. https://www.supadiverta.com.au/trees.html 3in1 Supadiverta.
