To all the framing experts. The picture below showing 2 bolted together 400*45 hyspan spanning across 4.7 meters. This hyspan is use as a hanging beam to join 2 floor joists. At one end the end bearing is 90mm, The other end (showing on picture below) , the end bearing for the hyspan is approx 60mm. Is 60mm suffice? Thanks Re: Hyspan end bearing question. 3Oct 01, 2018 8:53 pm vegan Probably? Look through the hyspan manufacturer guides free on the internet, required bearing seems to be 45 mm minimum Yes i did do the research. Depending on what type of hyspan and it's span. In this case 50-60mm look suffice But wont the top plate be crushed over time? 45mm is suffice for the lintel but the top plate itself? 45mm is a lot of pressure on the top plate vs lets say 90mm or more.. Anyway Probabaly i need to be a framer if i ask such questions. Thanks Re: Hyspan end bearing question. 5Oct 01, 2018 9:56 pm vegan pretty sure it'd be fine, it's not just the top plate taking that bearing pressure, you seem to also have 3 studs below also... Yes stud wise is pretty strong. 1 lvl and 2 f17 studs. Was just seeing the top plate as the weak link. Thanks. Minimum overhang into gutter must be 50mm, turn down tool should not split the sheet. it seems wrong tool for the profile was used, the flashing cannot slope back.
