Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 30, 2018 8:31 pm Just wondering whose responsibility it is to provide trafficable (brass) lids for underground drain pipes that terminate on the driveway? We just had our home built and moved in. We'd gotten the driveway done separtely - i.e. not through the builder. There was an underground drainage pipe that terminated where the driveway would be and sticked out a couple of hundred cms above the ground. All the concretors did was they simply concreted around this with the end of the pipe still sticking out when they did the driveway. (I'll try and get a couple of photos when it's daylight tomorrow) Had a chat with the builder and the landscaper - both of them are denying it is their responsibility to put trafficable lids on. Landscaper says he's 100% that the builder's plumber is meant to close it off with brass cap on them, and when doing the driveway the landscapers cut the pipe end and re-install the cap so that it sits flush with the driveway. Builder on the other hand says their driveway concretors always puts the brass lids on. Plumbers usually only put a plastic cap on but they're no good for driveways. Since we didn't go through the builder for the driveway they won't do it. There nothing explicit in either contracts about there being provisions for a brass lid, but no idea why the builder would even bring up a drainage pipe from the ground right where the driveway was going to be - only to end up covering it up with a lid? Also have a similar (drainage?) pipe end but where the kerb was cut out to lay the driveway. The kerb was simply standard concrete and didn't discover this pipe was under it until was cut out. Advice from the landscaper was if we didn't know what it was just cap it off with a similar brass lid. Again, is someone responsible to cover these up properly or would we have to fork out more money and have these done separately? Yeah mine about 9 metres long and 8 wide with slope of 25% at one point but the end point of the outlet is past the side of garage and if he concretes allowing for… 4 4506 Agreed. I just found out today the certifier has not given the final sign off. 2 4059 Grab a hose, insert it at the top of the inlet/down pipe and turn the water on and see where the water is escaping from. Then you'll know. 3 8388 |
