Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 08, 2008 10:31 pm Hey everyone, our kitchen is in !!!! Couldn't get a close look as it is all locked up, but I did notice on the front panel of the island bench, there is a join mark in the middle (they have used two seperate panels)
Is this normal, does anyone else have this? Re: Join mark in kitchen panels?? 2Sep 09, 2008 12:04 am Yep, we've got this in ours as well. We're a few weeks from handover, so I'm not sure if this is something that will get "fixed" between now and then. Will be interesting to see what others know.
(And then there's the fact that the end panels of the island bench don't reach the floor - our SS thought the cabinet makers had forgotten to allow for the mitre joint, and made it too short - this IS meant to be fixed... I guess God didn't use subbies... Re: Join mark in kitchen panels?? 3Sep 09, 2008 9:43 am I read a post on here where someone's mum had that join fixed to one panel. It was within the past week, it might be in the new homes section. I wouldn't be happy with a join as it is the first thing you see.
I thank you for bringing this up and will double check on my own. Re: Join mark in kitchen panels?? 4Sep 09, 2008 6:33 pm we have a join in our front panel. our cabinet maker told us that the whatever the material is that they build the panels from come in maximum widths / lengths and therefore this is unavoidable. Will post some pics later but our cabinet maker has made the joins look pretty good.
Helen Re: Join mark in kitchen panels?? 5Sep 09, 2008 7:06 pm What are the over all dimensions of the exposed back, and what is the finish/colour?
The size of boards available (as mentioned above) will decide whether the back can be made from one sheet or not. Many colour boards come in 3600 x 1400 but some are only available in 2400 x 1200... Painted boards on the other hand can be made up to 6000mm (at least the people who paint ours can) Cheers, Earl Re: Join mark in kitchen panels?? 7Sep 11, 2008 2:43 pm Hi Sharee,
Sorry I took so long to get back to you. Unfortunately I don't have much to do with Parbury - I have always had trouble getting their reps to turn up when they have made appointments to come and see me... But I am sure that if you ring them directly you should be able to get through to someone who can provide this information.
