Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 17, 2018 6:22 pm Trying to decide which wood heater to buy, we’re looking at modern inbuilt models. We’ve narrowed our choice to the following two: Kemlan C900 https://jetmastervic.com.au/product/c900/ Australian made Radiant heat only Or Norseman Aura Insert https://www.barbequesgalore.com.au/nors ... ood-heater Chinese made Three fan settings The dilemma is the Norseman is over $2k cheaper and has the fan setting which I like. But the Kemlan looks a bit more solid and really does radiate heat out. We are building our ‘forever’ home so quality is important but we don’t have an endless budget so if there’s an opportunity to save s decent amount of cash it would be great. I don’t want to wish in a year or two that I’d spent the extra or vice versa, saved it!! I can’t find any online reviews for either. I’ve stood in front of an inbuilt C900 and it does pump the heat out. I’ve also stood in front of a freestanding Norseman and it seems good but the guy did say that an inbuilt won’t be quite as hot and we’ll definitely need the fan then. Hubby thinks the fan will help push the heat out into the room further. It will be our main source of heat. We intend to run the ducted heating in fan only low to circulate warm air through the bedrooms. Any thoughts?? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Which wood heater? Aus vs Chinese made 2Aug 18, 2018 10:02 am Now looking at Freestanding styles. Neither of these models appear very efficient. Can’t find any landscape models that are particularly efficient. Re: Which wood heater? Aus vs Chinese made 3Aug 19, 2018 7:37 am All things considered, a free standing heater will do a better job that an inbuilt one. A fan makes them even better. I operate an Australian made Arrow 2400 and heat 30 squares with it. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=92074 Unless you can distribute the heat well through the house, a smaller heater than mine would probably suit. One of the reasons I bought it was that it had steel liners inside, not firebricks which can crack and break in time.
