Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 19, 2018 10:19 pm Hi all just wondering do all new houses need to have Pressure Limiting Valves (PLV) installed on the mains? A plumber who installed a HWS in the old house at the front notice the mains to the new house did not have PLV installed at the mains and said that by regulations they should have installed one when i built as it can cause damage and void warranty to things like the HWS. So just wondering is this true? as i can only find online that says internal pressure needs to be at 500 kPA nothing else and i am not too sure what to look for if they have placed some internal PLV at the taps etc Anyways i didnt want to accuse the old plumbers or getting them out here and pay for a charge if everything is ok. The other plumber did check the pressure for a tap outside the new house and it was running at 800 kPA thanks Re: New house: Pressure Limiting Valve installed on mains? 2Jun 19, 2018 11:21 pm lobboroz Hi all A plumber who installed a HWS in the old house at the front notice the mains to the new house did not have PLV installed at the mains and said that by regulations they should have installed one when i built as it can cause damage and void warranty to things like the HWS. If you don’t get a reply overnight, you can try calling the plumbing authority in your state. VBA plumbing in Victoria and ask your precise questions. Plumber attending my property in Vic to change tap under warranty checked the pressure at the mains and said the same about warranty and that this was requirement for all houses. Since this new plumber checked with pressure gauge, likely worth a call to the old plumber who fitted out the house and let him know what this other plumber said. See what he thinks.
