I noticed a few hairline cracks near the cornice here and there, which the builder is happy to fix but I'm just wondering if this is normal and is square set cornice more prone to cracking in general, in comparison to standard 90 cove cornice? If you had a cove plaster cornice installed it would all be hidden below. Good your builder is fixing 9 months in. Thanks Yes it is and is more visible than standard cornices.If there is some movement in your foundations or frame it can be more noticeable with square set.I would recommend it not to be used in areas with highly reactive soils but builders don't care as long as it looks good in the display home and gets them a sale .
