The past few weeks there has been a new sound in my ceiling/wall in my master bedroom in one corner. I’ve attached a video of three rhythmic tapping noises. These noises can occur at any time of the day or Night. And although I captured three sounds they can go on for like 10 taps, stop for an hour and come back again. Then nothing for hours etc. So far I have ruled out mice/critters (had a pest inspection), pipes (turned off mains water drained all pipes and still heard noise), electricity (shut off all power to the home and still heard it), and had my ceiling tiles and gutters inspected with all cracked tiles replaced. This noise is driving me crazy and I’m worried something is seriously wrong. The house is only 6 years old. I have ceramic tiles on my roof and a timber frame... https://vimeo.com/user84693847 Re: Can anyone help identify this sound? 2May 06, 2018 5:52 am Is it actually coming from the ceiling? Can it be coming from the window and related to window frame expansion/shrinkage, for example? Multiple taps in non-recurring intervals signify it is likely related to some sort of temperature-related expansion or shrinkage. Just my two cents. I have the sound isolated to that corner of the room but can’t quite tell if it’s behind the wall or in the ceiling right above. It’s a sound that’s never happened before in 6 years Which is why I’m worried it’s not a good sign. I can’t see anything wrong with the window frame if it is the frame. So frustrating.
