Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 25, 2018 11:33 pm Hi all we are doing a loft conversion and trying to finalise design of the staircase. he staircase is near the main entry within a narrow hallway. Since the staircase is in the hallway , and we will instal a skylight above the staircase, we are leaning towards an open riser design to let natural light through and give a clean look to the narrow hallway. after researchng a little bit it seems like open riser staircases have their own challenges like cleaning, dust, safety (??) etc. We have two kids over 10 years old. I didnt think open risers would pose any safety issues but just wanted to see if there are any other considerations which might favour the good old closed risers. Whats more in demand in Sydney? thanks in advance!
