Hello,
Is anti-glare sarking worth the money?
It is being offered as an upgrade for $980 in our H&L package.
"Provide Anti-Glare Sarking to entire roof (DS)"
Thoughts?
Thanks!

Can't see any point in it at all unless it is purely to make it easier on the eyes of the people doing the installing Re: Anti-Glare Sarking 5Feb 27, 2018 10:14 am IamSAM Are you comparing/deciding between : 1) Anti glare sarking Vs Sarking OR 2) Anti glare Sarking Vs No sarking at all ? It will be #1. Anti-glare sarking (upgrade option) vs sarking (standard inclusion). Anti-glare sarking (upgrade option) vs sarking (standard inclusion). Then you should opt for it. Maybe the builder offers only one type of sarking as upgrade and that is offered to you. Re: Anti-Glare Sarking 8Feb 27, 2018 11:57 am I think sarking is not included in your base price. The upgrade being offered is from nil sarking to anti-glare. Again these are my assumptions. Plz check with the builder. I do not have the expertise to comment on upgrade pricing - sarking to anti glare sarking Re: Anti-Glare Sarking 9Feb 27, 2018 1:11 pm IamSAM I think sarking is not included in your base price. Re: Anti-Glare Sarking 11Feb 28, 2018 2:58 pm Althom Looking at that wording I'd agree with IamSam. You didn't ever have sarking included as a standard inclusion. The $980 is for basic sarking which happens to be anti glare Thanks Althom. I raised this with Rawson and still awaiting for their confirmation. I will argue this with Rawson since they have confirmed that sarking is not included even though the standard inclusion roof is CSR Monier Concrete Roof Tiles. Re: Anti-Glare Sarking 14Mar 08, 2018 10:55 am This is what I received from Rawson: As your home does not have a rafter length greater than 6 metres we have not included sarking to your roof, upon consultation with our BASIX consultant if sarking is required we will amend the plans as directed to ensure we are compliant with regulations. Should I "just" opt-in for the $980 sarking anyhow? The more I read about it, the more sarking has added benefits than negatives (i.e. condensation?) Thoughts? Re: Anti-Glare Sarking 15Mar 09, 2018 3:32 am I am still struggling to understand how come you are allowed not to put sarking for the tiled roofs, as by design, it will be impossible to get rid of the gaps between the individual tiles. I am not even talking about condensation, just the rain + wind should be more than enough to turn your roof into a pool. Anti-glare insulation is always a good idea, either, as it increases R rating of the whole roof insulation quite significantly and therefore, improves thermal comfort inside your building. It is definitely not a question of whether it is required or not by outdated building regulations, it is rather a matter of your own comfort and piece of mind. Building Standards; Getting It Right!
