Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 30, 2008 9:34 pm We will be trying to keep our costs down as much as possible (as I'm sure everyone does) when we move into our new house (first one in Australia!) next month. Its a bit of a reno job but good enough for us to live in while we build up funds to do it. The main thing we'll be looking at doing when we move in is painting throughout. We're happy to do this ourselves, but are a bit scared at the prices of paint!
Can anyone recommend a good supplier of good quality paint, but at uninflated prices please? Any help appreciated! Rach Re: Painting...any suppliers of good quality paint...but cheap? 2Aug 30, 2008 10:46 pm Forgot to mention, I'm in Sydney Re: Painting...any suppliers of good quality paint...but cheap? 3Sep 01, 2008 3:32 pm honestly i have tried some of the cheaper brands and for stuff like undercoat i felt i got away with it, but for top coat yes the paint costs a bit but the time you spend painting is worth more than the few you may save getting another paint.
I went with Dulux pro range and found it far nicer that some of the crap i have tried for quick jobs in the past. One thing i can recommend saving your money on however is the dulux aqua enamal i think it was, supposed to be this super gloss water based ... it was really horrid to put on, showed brush makes, took a few coats and really wasnt that shiney. Was stupidly expensive. Some of the other rooms had different colours of gloss so i got the oil based stuff which was CHEAPER and a dream to slap on. I can highly recomend not getting it from Bunnings also the trade centres have staff who actually know what the deal is and being that they stock a limited brand range means they have a decent product range if that makes sense. (like all the different sizes and types of paint per brand rather than 10 similar paints from different brands). Re: Painting...any suppliers of good quality paint...but cheap? 6Sep 06, 2008 8:12 am I've used a lot of Solver paints and had good results in residential and commercial cafe style environments.
Check it out at a Solver shop and see how it compares. As per above - cheap paint is not good economically and it is also harder to apply the cheap stuff as it does not flow from the brush or roller as well.
