Hi,
Looking for some advice on install of natural stone as we are first time home renovators.
We purchased a beautiful slab of Carrara marble for our bathroom vanity benchtops. During a walk through, we noticed the corner of one of the benchtops had been obviously patched up. We asked our builder what happened and he explained that as marble is a natural stone chips are bound to occur. They tried to fill it in as you can see in the photo but it looks very obvious to us - almost like a bit of blue tak has been tacked on the end.
We are pretty unhappy about this as the stone was very expensive as was the labour cost to install. We are trying to find out if this level of workmanship is generally acceptable for Carrara marble install. We have spoken to a few stone suppliers and feedback has been that if a stonemason is experienced in working with natural stone then this shouldn't have happened. We told this to our builder and he doesn't agree. Would love to get some thoughts/advice from more experienced people on this forum as we are unsure if we should just accept this or push him to fix it to a higher standard.
