Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 29, 2008 10:28 pm I've been told by an electrician we use through my work (insurance industry), that they charge $50 for a call out fee, and then $50 per hour of work. Is that ok? How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Is this good for an electrician? 2Aug 30, 2008 12:22 am Yep....sounds like standard rate (ours was the same)....just make sure you have a precise list of what you want them to do.....and if you've got a whole days work for them you could get him to waive the call out fee. mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Is this good for an electrician? 5Aug 30, 2008 7:41 pm $180 call out! I am SO lucky then! This is only the first place I've asked about pricing too. There's another guy who was referred to us from a lighting shop.
Incidentally, I got a gorgeous light the other day (4 directional lights mounted on a tile with 4 brushed gold/brown aluminium tiles within it) for our new kitchen, from a place on the Gold Coast (and Brisbane) called Andrew's Light Up. Its RRP is $215. It was reduced to $165, then on sale for $112 and I got it for $101. WOO HOO! How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Is this good for an electrician? 10Aug 31, 2008 10:43 am It is $150 per power point on external wall here in WA, so guys you are soo lucky, pity we are not all gaining from the resources boom, .
The quote from my plumber was $760 for moving the water pipes under the bench by 30cm and later connecting it all again after we have our benches installed. I have no choice as people just refuse to do the work for less and I cannot wait!!! looking for somebody cheaper. Maggie Re: Is this good for an electrician? 11Aug 31, 2008 10:57 am Oh my GOD, that's horrendously expensive!!! I fear the time we ever need anything done like that. How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Is this good for an electrician? 12Aug 31, 2008 2:20 pm Maggie here I am thinking we paid an extreme amount for our plumbing....
We had a plumber out last Saturday to unblock our drain. $185 call out fee, because it was outside 'normal' working hours, then another $200, for less than an hours work. He did use the machine thingy though! Have you tried GA Perry... When we got them to supply and install our hot water service the price was pretty good. Re: Is this good for an electrician? 13Sep 03, 2008 2:46 pm I got another quote from an electrician.
Here is what I want and the prices… 1. Remove existing kitchen fluoro dome style light and replace with 4 directional lights mounted on an aluminium tile - $77 2. An oyster light “shuffle”. There are 4 existing but small oysters I want moved from the lounge and bedroom to the entrance hall, passageway and bathrooms, and them replaced by 4 new larger and nicer oysters - $55 for the whole job! 3. Cancel a power point and relocate it to the other side of the (small area of the) room – unsure, but $70 per hour is the general rate. Is this pretty good? His customer service/speed of reply is great, and I think $55 for all those oysters is great! How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! 0 671 9 19180 Thank you.
