Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Dec 03, 2017 10:38 pm Hi, We currently live in an older house in the south-east suburbs of Melbourne. We're on a corner block of a Crescent and a Court. Our address is listed as being in the Court, however the front of our house (and driveway) face the Crescent. It's on a decent block size (566 sqm), but with the way the house is currently facing means it has a very wide frontage (around 27.5m at it's widest) but not that much depth (around 21.5m depth). An option we've thought of instead of either selling or renovating/extending would be a knockdown/rebuild. With the block size the way it is, I've thought we might have two options here: - find a builder that has designs to suit extra wide frontages. - look at repositioning the driveway onto the Court side. The problem I see with the 2nd option is that 1) I'm not sure how difficult this would be (or even possible) and 2) the 'depth' when re-positioning the house this way would still not be that great. Also with the first option, not sure if there are many builders that offer designs for blocks like ours. Can anyone comment on what our options might be? Re: Options for knockdown/rebuild for wide frontage block 2Dec 04, 2017 7:39 am Hi, We are in the south west of Sydney and had the exact same problem. We looked at a lot of display homes but nearly all are now designed for smaller blocks. The designs were mainly narrow frontages and deep blocks mainly to suit double storey houses. We eventually had to go to a architect/House designer to get a plan drawn up from our brief and then find a custom builder to build it.
