Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Frame timber type 3Nov 09, 2017 7:34 pm charlie007 I have seen some building sites recently and noticed different builders use different timber, some using blue (treated) timber framing while others don't use the blue timber framing. What's the difference between the two? Blue is H2 termite treated (light duty) suitable only for use above ground and not exposed to the elements. H3 is suitable for exposure to the weather and H4 is usually suitable for direct contact with the ground. Untreated timber framing.requires another termite treatment system to be used such as "termi-mesh: under all floor slabs and foundations and behind retaining walls. This type of termite protection installation must be carried out by a licensed trade. This is 100% true. You can not hang anything on steel frames. very frustrating 8 8021 Thanks Pulse, thats really helpful and very much appreciated.
