Plantation Shutters

Has anyone had plantation shutters installed? How effective are they at keeping out the light?

I have them in my master bedroom and I have a streetlight right outside my window.
I find them reasonably good. Not perfect.

Our landlord has recently put them in our bedroom, they're not great, you don't get the beam of sun in your eyes that you get with a roller blind but you do get lots of leakage. I have wondered if it's a quality thing though. Fortunately the installer left the old roller bling behind ours, the two together work pretty well, so well we only put the roller down on weekends or it's too hard to get out of bed .
