Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 30, 2017 1:34 pm We're looking to knock down and rebuild on a rising site. We'd like to level the backyard but unsure if this should be done before, together, or after the build. The backyard has approx 1.2m rise so keen to achieve an exempt development by having 600mm retaining walls. We want to ensure it doesn't slow or complicate the house approval/build process, but also mindful of the access to backyard for machinery if done after. There will be a 3m gap to the side of the house. Appreciate any advice from those with experience or having gone through a similar situation. Thanks! Re: New Build with Backyard Levelling 2Sep 04, 2017 4:23 pm For me, what would help me to decide when to do it would be access and cost. We had a similar situation. We did it after the build because we were doing it ourselves (to save money) but didn't want to interfere with the house site works. However, we had access to get an excavator past the side of the house. If we hadn't had the access, we would have done it first in consultation with the builder. What is your soil type? Soak wells need sandy soils. 10 8987 |
