I’m currently working on an electronics design course at university. Our group is interested in prototyping a smart ladder, designed to provide feedback to the user if they’re using the ladder in a dangerous manner (according to WHS guidelines), such as from overreaching or overloading. Part of the inspiration behind it comes from the fact that I get a little nervous using ladders myself, due to inexperience and a slight fear of heights.
I’d love to hear what you guys think about this concept. Do you think this is a good idea, or a silly one? Are there any particular ‘killer’ features you might recommend that would make this product genuinely useful? Maybe my Google-fu isn’t that great, but it doesn’t seem like a ‘smart ladder’ even exists in the market yet.
If you have the time to spare, it would help us out a lot if you filled out this survey for us. I suppose this topic is only tangentially related to building and renovation though.
