Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 13, 2017 11:22 pm I'm currently designing my house and don't think I will ever use the sink in the Butler's Pantry. However, it seems alot of people love the concept and will be having one. For those who have already built for homes, how useful did you find the sink? Have you used it yet at all? Or should I save room for extra benchspace? Thanks! Re: Sink in Butler's Pantry/WIP - Yes or No? 2Aug 14, 2017 8:52 am We have got them to put water in and cap it for when we do our butlers pantry to exactly what we want Re: Sink in Butler's Pantry/WIP - Yes or No? 3Aug 14, 2017 11:00 am We're not in yet but we have a sink in butlers because that is where the kettle will be. We use the kettle a lot so I imagine it will get a lot of use. The mugs and glasses will also be stored above this so the water at that sink will be filtered (we won't bother at the kitchen sink). Obviously we could walk around the to the kitchen sink but that almost defeats our purpose of having somewhere to leave the appliances out. Completely depends what you plan to use the space for. If I ever build again I would like to have the big sink and the dishwasher in the butlers, unfortunately I didn't have the space this time. Re: Sink in Butler's Pantry/WIP - Yes or No? 4Aug 14, 2017 11:19 am Certainly depends on how you plan to use the space now and in the future and what your living arrangements are. Our house design has a walk in pantry, which is the size of our study and it was purely going to be for storage. We have 6 kids, so we've added a long window, exhaust fan, will have capped water and plumbing for a drain and changed that side to have a bench high enough for a dishwasher and bar fridge. It's now going to be the kids kitchen/ our walk in pantry. We are also going to have a large, deep sink and will have that in there as we always cook with big Bessemer pots and/or large trays and dishes for the oven, and that's where they will go for a soak and good scrub as we don't want to chip the stone around the under mounted sink in the kitchen. Didn't want over sized sink there anyway. So yeah, it definitely depends on your plans for the space and living arrangements. Re: Sink in Butler's Pantry/WIP - Yes or No? 5Aug 14, 2017 1:50 pm We got a huge sink in butler's pantry, use it when entertaining, real estate agents who have valued my property said, it's considered a proper butlers pantry with a sink only, especially the higher end markets. Re: Sink in Butler's Pantry/WIP - Yes or No? 7Aug 14, 2017 9:26 pm We have one and like Bank, have our kettle, coffee maker and toaster in there. We have our mugs and a few spoons and make our toast and tea and coffees in there. Love it all out of the way. Basically.
