Browse Forums General Discussion Re: How many LED downlights required ? 2Aug 05, 2017 8:16 am We have 2 in bedrooms, 4 in bigger master, every 3 metres in corridor, depending on room size, theatre 6,kitchen family rooms are generally big rooms, 10_14,hard to be spot on with out knowing room sizes. Re: How many LED downlights required ? 3Aug 05, 2017 11:23 pm Thanks Joker We have to make decision soon as we had just finished 2 appointments with HOG last week. Does anybody has the custom made wardrobes with Jeld Wen? Is the price reasonable? Thanks, Lee Re: How many LED downlights required ? 4Aug 06, 2017 4:52 pm It depends. Not as many as you may think. We have fans in Bedrooms so have a light in them. Plus one good LED mid point above bed to read. I prefer white light and good light - so don't need anywhere near as many as the yellow lower light ones. The format of 4 in each main area works well. We have two sets of 3 in kitchen - but rarely use one set of 3. Not sure why you'd need 6 in a theatre room. We also have dimmers on all of them. My main tip - have them plugged in - if you need to replace its MUCH easier. And cost isn't that bad. The display house have about double what you really need. Re: How many LED downlights required ? 6Aug 08, 2017 11:47 am Contrary to saint mike. Warm white is far better for every day use, cool white which is blindingly bright will make your room feel clinical and not homely. We have 4 downlights in all bedrooms, 4 in kids activity, 4 in living, 4 in dining, 3 in kitchen (we have an open living/dining/kitchen so they are all switched differently and the living ones are on a dimmer) 2 in the laundry, 1 in pantry, 1 in linen, 2 in ensuite, 1 in main bathroom (both bathrooms have heater/fan/light combo), 1 in small back hallway, 2 in front hall way, 1 in power room, one in the small study, 2 in the large study, 8 in the home theater (on dimmer). Lighting is something you want to do right, on top of the downlights we have lots of pendants which are great for when you want the lower light options, but when it comes to cleaning etc the brighter the room the easier it is to see naturally. of course a lot of this depends on house positioning and colours, we dont get a lot of natural sunlight and our carpet is charcoal, but the lighting is perfect for making it like daylight inside. Re: How many LED downlights required ? 9Aug 09, 2017 2:18 pm Agree with Joker. Definitely need them on a gimbal (?) - where you can direct light if need be. We do prefer real light - bright. Not the yellow warmish light some like. We use the dimmers to adjust - eg in dining area when having a meal etc. It is personal taste though as I said - what you prefer. We are in SEQ and love the natural light. Our inside lights reflect this taste. And - we don't need to use many to get the light we want. They are certainly better for reading. When we walked through the display houses they seemed to have hundreds. Mainly because they wanted the place to look bright and airy. Maybe get a demo - at the light shop. They should be able to show the lights to you in different environments. But - as I said - I feel we still have more than we needed. I cannot understand why you'd need 6 or 8 good LED lights - on dimmers - in a theatre - unless its a massive room. I'd suggest a bank of 4 (?) and maybe a lamp or two ? BUT - it is a personal thing and you need to see how the various lights work. Most lighting shops have an area set up for this. Re: How many LED downlights required ? 11Aug 20, 2017 9:22 am No - sorry - but don't dismiss the use of tinting on windows - as well. Can help with privacy, temps etc. I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with… 14 105551 They already have two well known ones (HIA & MBA) that many new home buyers mistakenly think are regulatory bodies that Joe Public can complain to. 6 18022 |
