Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 21, 2017 5:07 pm Anyone who has taken a tradesman to Fair Trading .... What happens if they don't turn up? What if a rectification order or order for refund is made and they don't turn up or pay up? What are the next steps? Turns out The grub who did my driveway has now got a number of outstanding orders against him as well as having a suspended licence. He shouldn't be working anyway! I researched him before we engaged him and so I don't know how I missed this info before. He is a so and so and I am fully anticipating he won't show or cough up the money for me to pay someone else to fix his cr@ppy job. It to mention the damage to my render and fence. What matters is what happens on the day they turn up to do the work..and for that you weren't prepared heres some tips for others: 1. Always have proper drawing and specifications 2. Get a quote & confirm the estimate and start by email 3. Advise the contractor the job will be properly inspected during the work 4.Should the job be non conforming and noncompliant . it will be halted until rectified Here's the kicker, If the jobs stopped the concrete goes back to the depot Cost to the contractor Thousands in disposing the concrete and cleaning out the mixer truck. If the subcontractor does that a few times then the batching plant won't supply him with concrete...& he goes out of business...good riddance Bottom line always get the contractor to order the concrete..have an engineer on site to inspect the work Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Hi, we live in an area where the black soil is prone to a lot of movement.
