Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 13, 2017 5:47 am Well the things you learn after you've built a house!! There may as well be an air con unit pumping air out of the cavity sliding doors at my place -that's the volume of cold air I have being leaked into my house from the wall cavity from two cavity sliders upstairs! Do builders ever put some kind of draught stoppers in? Is there anything I can do now the place is complete to alleviate this? C U S T O M. C O R A L. How does the air leak through the cavity sliders? I'm trying to picture how it would leak but I'm struggling a little. Shouldn't the cavity slider be bound by the ceiling (there would be frame around the cavity) and floor? Are you referring to the gap between the bottom of the cavity door and the floor? I don't see how that's any different to any other door. When I looked at that late the other night I thought it had to be installed during construction but now I'm thinking it might be ok to retro fit. Thanks heapa C U S T O M. C O R A L. Hoping that is isn't an issue as we added sarking around the whole roof. Gyprock would then be installed over the frame on the right. I'm still struggling a little to understand how air can leak (significantly anyway) to the roof when the whole cavity sliding door is framed (apart from the bottom) and gyprock installed right against the frame.
