Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 22, 2008 7:39 pm Hello....
Just a quick one - we had a big tree in the front of our property removed yesterday and today they came back to take out the stump and the surface roots. It seems they have taken all of the roots except for one... It isn't huge but it is under ground a bit - I don't think (although we didn't try hard) we would be able to pull it up... We are due to get the place demolished in a few weeks and the demolition company is getting rid of the house/shed and a number of other smaller trees on the property....do you think they will just get rid of this root too. I'm assuming they have to leave a flat surface and they smooth the surface once they are done, so would it probably get removed in all of the other demoliton/cleaning? We will ask them to remove it on the actual day. Or should we just get the other company back to come and get the tree root, it just seems a bit silly to call them out if it will probably get done anyway. Any advice, or do you think we could even do it ourselves with a shovel?? Thanks Bel My karma ran over your dogma Re: Another Demolition Question 3Aug 22, 2008 9:33 pm Yes our demolition company got rid of a lot of smaller trees and bushes. But if you want to be sure maybe give the tree remover guys a call and ask them why they didn't remove it?
Did you end up having to get a permit to do it? Re: Another Demolition Question 4Aug 23, 2008 8:59 am Thanks guy - yeah I thought the demo guys could do it!
Donuts - Nope we didn't need a permit, it amazed me cos it was quite big, but apparently we were just under the measurements! We left the other trees for the demo company....if for some reason the demo company won't touch it, I will just call the tree guys back to do it My karma ran over your dogma Re: Another Demolition Question 5Aug 29, 2008 8:49 am Always worth a call to a home relocator.
We had quotes of 12 and 17 to demolish, prior to making a one off call to a relocator. She bang house sold within a few weeks, and hopefully when its all said and done 15k better off. This was a brick vaneer home too. www.gah.com.au Re: Another Demolition Question 6Aug 29, 2008 8:57 am We tried GAH too Soda - I would have loved to have sold the home and get money for it Unfortunatly we had asbestos so couldn't do it
Hope you get a good price My karma ran over your dogma Re: Another Demolition Question 7Dec 17, 2008 6:32 pm Hi haywgl,
I was just trawling through looking various stories about demolitions and came across your post, we are demolishing soon and we had 2 large trees removed about 6 months ago but some roots remain, I'd be interested in knowing how your demo guys went with your roots? Regards, Vid Re: Another Demolition Question 8Dec 17, 2008 6:51 pm Hi
We ended up getting Taylors the tree company who removed the larger tree back out and they removed the root system Also there were a few superficial roots that the demolition company removed during demolition, and the rest was removed during the site scrape My karma ran over your dogma Re: Another Demolition Question 10Jan 15, 2009 5:03 pm haywgl Hi :) We ended up getting Taylors the tree company who removed the larger tree back out and they removed the root system :) Also there were a few superficial roots that the demolition company removed during demolition, and the rest was removed during the site scrape :) When the builders "scrape" the block when a house has been demolished do they usually include this in the cost of the house or do they sometimes charge extra if they find lots of roots?
