Re: Independent Building inspector needed 4Jun 01, 2017 11:52 pm Hi Gadi80, If no recommendations are forthcoming, you can sift out those who have too many disclaimers to do with access asking the following questions: 1. Are they a sole trader? (sole traders do not have to limit their access as do employees of larger firms). 2. Do they get on the roof? 3. Do they have a white card? 4. Do they get in the roof space and walk from end to end or as far as possible? 5. Do they get under timber floors? (This will not apply to your home if it's on a slab) 6. Do they inspect all roof plumbing? Six yeses and you have your guy. Then you can ask about their experience, their definition of defect and their price, Cheers Leonardo_23 Re: Independent Building inspector needed 5Jun 01, 2017 11:54 pm Hi Gadi80, They should also carry professional indemnity insurance for their inspection and report, Cheers Leonardo_23 I would send it to the certifier who is technically your representative and working on your behalf not the builder's 1 2278 That is a really good attitude Akin to you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
