Also...when reading house plans is the north point to true north or magnetic north? Would be great if someone in the industry can clear this up for me and perhaps direct me to some literature to confirm. True north is static, along with everything else on plans or maps that is related to it. That's my gut feeling, I'm not in the industry but common sense says that is probably the case. (I think). For most purposes this can be considered to be the same as True North although there is some difference, and the difference depends on location, it is fairly small. I've never seen magnetic north used, and can't think of any reason why it ever would be - it is variable (over both time and location), and doesn't reference to anything useful in the 'real world'.
