Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 16, 2017 8:51 pm What is considered a defect with render finish? I'm concerned our final coat (acrylic) isn't thick enough, as you can still see obvious brick mortar lines through it on one of the front pillars. We have PCI on Tuesday and I know the SM has had huge dramas with these renderers. Is this acceptable quality? Bit hard to tell in the photo, but the mortar lines are visible from about halfway up the pillar right to the top. On ours you can see the plastic stuff they run up the edge of the brickwork to square it off. Do you know what product they used? We have rockcote. Finish is horrid. I wouldn't think yours is acceptable either. C U S T O M. C O R A L. However, they are there for a reason - to protect the edges and then the render along the wall. If they didn't use them, a corner can easily chip and then that can chip can carry on along the rest of the wall.

If it shows in a photo, then it stands to reason it's worse to the naked eye Probably only needs another coat and will be set Our Bayside KDR Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78298 Re: Quality of render finish 5May 17, 2017 3:35 am MrsJM Out of curiosity how are the edges? Name escapes me at the moment, but comes pre tinted for the top coat. Edges looked good from the quick glance I gave it - I literally didn't look closely as the flooring guy's drop saw was set up on the portico. But this bit stood out like a sore thumb. Also, I saw them putting the base coat on and they used metal corners, not plastic. The light was bouncing around and making it hard for my phone camera to pick it up. I'll make sure the SM gets someone in to add another coat. Would they need to add another coat all over or just to this pillar?
