Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 27, 2017 7:38 am Hey all Choosing bricks at the moment and came across this company: Advance bricks We're after a more traditional / classic looking melbourne style bricks. Austral's melbourne series is OK but not great. The Daniel Robertson Hawthorn range is amazing but way too pricey to justify Advance bricks much nicer than the melbourne series and almost identical to DR Hawthorn tan, at $500 less per thousand, when we need 22k bricks, that's an $11k difference just in bricks!! Advance seem popular enough, they've provided me with 10 addresses locally of houses in the bricks we like but wanted thoughts from people that may have used them Re: Advance Bricks - anyone used? 3Apr 01, 2017 8:53 am When we built about 6 years ago we had the same dilemma, loved Daniel Robertson's Melbourne series but couldn't justify the extra cost so came across Advance bricks. We liked the blend look with deep browns and charcoals that give homes a timeless look so looked at their Elmhurst range. After looking at a few homes using their Bronze range we decided it was a bit light for us and the Elmhurst Red had good intensity but was a bit too red. Their bricks looked good but in the end we chose Austral's Melbourne series in Hawthorn. Good luck with the build. Re: Advance Bricks - anyone used? 4Apr 03, 2017 1:02 pm Cheers we're actually leaning towards the reds vs. browns - elmhurst reef is the our favourite in the reds. But to the naked eye if you look at tudor reef next to DR hawthorns you have to really really look to notice the differences. even if it was obvious, to me it's close enough to justify a $500/1k difference. I'm more concerned with quality e.g. fading, breaking, strength, ability to handle the elements etc. No. The same paint that they paint the wall with will be fine. The builder probably had every intention to paint it and not leave it black. 7 14511 ![]() it's definitely not looking nice. My builder will give the first floor cladding. We are not very comfortable with this cladding. What cladding you have used. Our is strip… 2 9849 Interesting. You have great clearance to damp proof course all the way around which is rare with so many cowboy landscapers and concreters. Is there sufficient fall… 2 13408 |
