Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 15, 2008 4:43 pm At the risk of sounding like an absolute bimbo - holding up my porch are two pillars their width is 470mmX470mm and they are 2740mm high, how do I work out how many square metres of stackstone material I would need to cover them?? Re: I need some maths tutoring! 2Aug 15, 2008 4:45 pm Although it may seem simple... it can be a difficult to answer, as stack stone can come in corners for pillars.
Best take it to a supplier and they can calculate the exact amount u need in the colour u want. Re: I need some maths tutoring! 3Aug 15, 2008 4:51 pm Hi Sharee,
You need to multiply the length and width to get the area of each face and multiply it by 4 for each face of the pillar e.g. .47 x 2.74 = 1.28 1.28 x 4 = 5.15m for each pillar (I think) Re: I need some maths tutoring! 4Aug 15, 2008 4:51 pm To get a rough estimate multiply 0.470 x 4 and then by the height and then by 2 for the 2 posts...so 10.3sqm for the 2.

2.740 x .470 = 1.2878 multiply by 4 sides 1.278 x 4 =1.1512 multiply by 2 posts 1.1512 x 2 = 10.3024 dont forget to add for waste if applicable If the product you are installing has a thickness, this would alter the square meters required, because two sides of the posts would become wider by 2 thicknesses of the product you are installing Best Price Wardrobes Sliding door robes | Walk in robes Deco panel | Mirror | Melamine 26 to 28 Cottage lane Hackham M: 0402 927 376 http://www.bestpricewardrobes.com.au Trade welcome Re: I need some maths tutoring! 7Aug 15, 2008 7:26 pm 'chelle Well if penjay and I both 'think'...do 2 'thinks' make a certain LOL penjay, you can tell that you're a teacher, you actually explained your working out...I just did it ...no wonder my kids get frustrated with me My kids get frustrated too!
