We were going to have a door with the glass sections in it but then it is pointless having a nice door and covering it with a security door. I really want a security door for 3 reasons. 1. Kids wing is at the front and we are at the back so I will feel better with it there. 2. Peephole or no I prefer a security door when dealing with people I am not 100% sure of 3. Cross ventilation. So we are going to save the $800 on the fancy door and I want to get a top of the line security door. Is there any such thing as a security door that looks nice????? Re: Sexy security doors 3Aug 15, 2008 9:25 am Great question! We have a mesh door on our current house that does obscure the led light glass, I'd love to see what people come up with.
Just a random idea (cost aside) what about that security glass they use, a full pane door with that stuff in it would suffice? Edit: Probably would not allow for alot of conversation through the glass tho would it.. hmmm Or cross ventilation! Re: Sexy security doors 4Aug 15, 2008 9:36 am Have you had a look at the Amplimesh Clearguard doors. Now i don't know if you would categorise them as "sexy" but they don't look too overpowering. They also have a wood grain finish available to match wooden doors. I haven't seen them up close, just on the website. Was thinking about them myself but at this stage am going to have a phone with camera to see who is at the door. Have always had a security door so this will be a change. May at sometime change my mind and go for a security door because I do like to have the front door open sometimes for the cross breeze. Re: Sexy security doors 5Aug 15, 2008 11:37 am As bored as a software developer gets during the day I decided to look further into security glass, so just incase anyone wanted to know here's what I found out:
The recommended product was a 14.5mm thick security glass ( +/- .05mm) with a "non stop 3.5kg axe and sledge 'attack time' of 10 minutes". This product comes in at around $500 per Sqm2. Just something else to put on the 'why do I know that' list. Re: Sexy security doors 6Aug 15, 2008 11:40 am Here is a see through security door I found from

I ended up not spending too much on the front door because I knew we wanted a security door to cover it.

(not a recommendation as such as I don't know of anyone who has used them - just had a flyer from our last visit to the local HIA centre) 'We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.' - Winston Churchill Re: Sexy security doors 11Aug 21, 2008 2:44 pm http://crimsafe.com.au/default.cfm
I have seen this on the television.. We are wanting a security door that is not oo dominating. Not sure as to what the cost would be.. nesspop Why am I covered in feathers Re: Sexy security doors 12Oct 05, 2008 8:09 pm I have seen crimsafe security door at the expo. The crimsafe security door is solid and great especially you have a nice entry door.
The price different between the crimesafe security standard size door and normal security standard size door are around $300+.
