Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 13, 2008 5:19 pm Hi. Has anyone had any experience with knocking the back of a house right out and adding an entire room? We are looking at purchasing a 2 bedroom post war cottage in Brisbane because of its great location but would want to add an open plan lounge/dining area that opens onto an outdoor entertaining area. We'd be changing the existing living area into the third bedroom.
I really have no idea of budget and what's involved. I saw a company called True-Line who have a concept called Add-a-room and wonder if anyone has ever done this? Re: Adding a room to the back of a small post war cottage 2Aug 13, 2008 7:37 pm We were looking at buying a 70's house hrere in Perth but it needed some major renos to get what we wanted from it.
We found a guy who owned a renovation business and for a fee would come to a home open with us and discuss then and there what we were thinking of 1. could it be done and 2. within the budget we had mentioned to him. By the end of the home open we were able to work out that we needed to build new instead of renovating. Thats quite different to what you have mentioned but you might be able to find someone similiar to come to a home open with you. We were not obligated to him as the fee we paid was simply for this one service. I think it was about $200.
