So - I had window tinted - darker than normal. Light still OK. Also close blinds in afternoon. BUT - my technique is to set the A/c on about 25/26 - but have the fans on. Its amazing what the affect is. Have fan in bedroom going and it lowered the temps by quite a bit. BUT - the air con is on. Air/con on 25/26 and fan going got it down to 26. Tint on window and blind down. This bedroom has garage on one side and laundry on other - western wall. So - no air/con either side and direct hot sun on other. We have solar E so hopefully it pays for a bit of the power ... I do this in the rental we're in while our house is being built and it works a treat. Not a very attractive option but dirty cheap and works.
