Went to the house and ours are white, but I'm thinking of changing to the silver covers. Or do people preffer to have them blend into the wall and not have them as a 'feature'? Pics anyone???? Ideas/opinions Yes, I'm obsessed with the littlest of things Re: Have you/will you change your powerpoint covers???? 2Aug 11, 2008 10:31 pm Hi miss81,
This was something where if money was no object I'd be doing something different but I just don't give enough of a crap about it to worry at the moment. It's just not something I'd spend money on when there's a budget. All of ours will be just the standard except for the island bench powerpoint and data point which will be slimline and black to match the stone waterfall side which is Jet Black. I don't think they're really noticeable to tell you the truth and I think there's nicer things that can be made into a feature than powerpoints. But like everything else on here it's all personal preference. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Have you/will you change your powerpoint covers???? 3Aug 11, 2008 10:45 pm Yep, I agree with joles. Not something I'm worrying too much about. If money was no object, then yes we would go for something sleek and modern, but I think we'll probably stick with something pretty standard. (Mind you, it is something our dseigner may fuss about and try to convince us to go with the more expensive option ) 'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ Re: Have you/will you change your powerpoint covers???? 4Aug 12, 2008 6:42 am Hi Miss 81,
Its amazing how little details like that can make us so happy Light switches you use every day and to have a cover that give you enjoyment everytime you look and feel it, its worth upgrading to IMHO. We had the silver covers for my last house as my father bought them as a house warming gift They were very expensive back then but he bought enough to cover the main light switches. As Jo said in a previous thread, if its something you really, really want and dont want to compromise then go ahead. Mrs B Re: Have you/will you change your powerpoint covers???? 5Aug 12, 2008 7:09 am Yes, I agree with Mrs B.
We will be replacing them ourselves after handover - much cheaper that way considering how much we've been ripped off by other so-called upgrades Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Have you/will you change your powerpoint covers???? 6Aug 12, 2008 8:17 am http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj187/nurselovescoffee/HPIM0851-1-1.jpg
This is one of my light switches, power points will be the same, we had choice of basic colours at no extra cost so just going with plain cream, I'm with Jo, I don't think light and power switches really get noticed, I think they usually just blend into the background , as you can see, ours is very similar colour to the walls, and anyway the silver ones would look out of place in our cottage style home. In a finite budget you have to choose what is worth extra money, to me this isn't - can't say I get any particular enjoyment out of looking at power switches, I'd rather spend extra money on, say, my garden, which I will get pleasure out of. Thanks mate. Yeah good points! Leaning towards Option 3 to get a bit extra space in the cabinets but not going too crazy high (and expensive).
