As you walking in master is that a his/her WIR of WIR and Linen? Yes there are 2 WIR in master room and yes for sure it's going to be skylight in middle It's not the final drawing that why it is missing windows and linen But wt do u think abt it ? Orientation ? Space ? .. Re: Any changes do think 8Dec 03, 2016 10:25 am Interesting use of an odd-shaped block - at first glance I think it's quite clever. I like your master suite layout, especially the ensuite For orientation, I think you could potentially use a little more of the northern aspect by rejigging things a bit; but first, where are you building (climate-wise)? Also, what about the immediate surroundings - what's the local topography (rises/falls)? Any views worth capturing? Any view/light blocking from current or future surrounding buildings? Re: Any changes do think 9Dec 04, 2016 8:55 am Not sure about your use of space. There is a large open area which is like an entry foyer then a smaller lounge space behind the dividing wall. To my eye that looks like a large chunk of your living space which is not overly usable. This encroachment also means the bedrooms are quite small (not much larger than the pantry). Bathroom looks awkward crammed into the corner. I'd be more inclined to use this corner area for a bedroom or play area. You don't have the same fixtures as a bathroom and have a bit more flexibility on the layout. Best utilisation of space is one of the biggest challenges with an odd shaped house. I don't think this design has quite got it right. Re: Any changes do think 10Dec 07, 2016 2:27 pm algernon Interesting use of an odd-shaped block - at first glance I think it's quite clever. I am building in west Melbourne area No rises/falls or view its in between 2 houses Re: Any changes do think 11Dec 09, 2016 9:27 pm In Melbourne, you'll definitely want to make good use of your northern exposure. I'd suggest considering swapping the locations of the kitchen and the master suite to do that better. That could also mean that you could look at altering the wall layouts in the middle there - you've got a fair bit of wasted space there as it sits. Thanks for ur suggestions But could u pls clarify ur point ? What's point to swap kitchen with master room ? Re: Any changes do think 13Dec 11, 2016 12:42 pm It brings the kitchen and associated living space to the north, where you can take better use of the passive solar gain - making your house much warmer and more comfortable in winter. Having the bedroom to the south puts it on the cooler shaded side of the house - making it cooler and more comfortable in summer, Doing that swap would also mean that you could better align the traffic flows from the front door and the garage into the living areas - as it stands now, you have to traipse the full length of the house to get to the living areas from your entries. Quite a bit of a journey when you're carrying shopping, and any guests are automatically taken on a full tour of the house - including any messy areas on the way! If the kitchen was where the master is now, then it's only a short passageway from both the garage entry and the foyer to get directly to the living areas - and a screening wall to the south of the new kitchen (where you currently have that triangular area with the couches) will then keep the 'bedroom wing' private from both the entries and the living areas (this would also make for less noise getting through to the bedrooms than in your current plan). Living area flows well into the alfresco. Strategically places storage cupboards overcome the odd angles. The study is quite large. Virtually an extra bedroom. You might consider shifting the wall about 200-300mm in to make the master bedroom a little larger. All depends on how you would use that room. You may already have this on the drawing (a bit hard to tell). On opening between the 2 corridors you could put in a double cavity sliding door (2 x 820). That way you can open it up or close it off as needed. Overall I think this is a great design. Re: Any changes do think 18Jan 27, 2017 9:57 am The second one looks much better, better use of space and not the huge hallways at the front. Agree it would be good to minimise the study and make the master bigger Our Trinity Lux Q1 with Plantation Homes: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=85254&view=undread#unread Insta: @newhomedream I engaged my builder in December last year and we’ve been working on preliminary drawings for last couple of months.
