Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 06, 2016 11:36 am Hi guys, I hope this is the right place to post this. Mice have made a hole right through our salt damp wall through to our bedroom. I am scared of snakes coming through the hole as spring is here, and we have young children. I'm really wanting to protect them. My husband is a builder and I have been waiting 3 years for the salt damp to be fixed and treated and wall repaired. But I just can't get him to do it. I am just looking for a way to temporarily fill the hole which goes right through to outside. Big old stone walls. My husband won't help me or tell me how, but I'm desperate to make this safe for the kids. I have no idea about any of this stuff and don't know where to start. Can anyone help me with what I need to buy, and how to temporarily repair this hole. Thanks in advance, I'm sorry I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm desperate and hubby won't let me pay anyone to do it. Re: Repairing hole in salt damp wall help. 2Nov 06, 2016 1:44 pm New husband? Seriously though: scrunch up some aluminium flywire and poke it into the hole as they won't eat through that or I have read that a mix of polyfiller and steel wool will do the job - same principle in both suggestions. The salt damp will be more difficult to fix and I can sorta understand why he is not in a hurry to fix it - a big job. Re: Repairing hole in salt damp wall help. 3Nov 06, 2016 3:11 pm You can get 1 kg packet of premixed mortar mixed Bunnings. Just add water and mix to tooth paste viscosity. Then just throw handful into the hole either side and tool off with old spoon. Wear rubber gloves and glasses. You need to find a way to make your husband more obedient. That was when we were raisingt 4 kids and I had contracts and men working everywhere. At least I told her to get someone else to do maintenance around house.
