"We'll work on it"
"Don't worry, we will sort it out"
"We've built many homes, I can assure you that's normal"
Sound familiar? Well it's no joking matter with me. In fact I'm really upset with my builder. I've got a long list of defects and issue to whine but I'll not bore you as the issue is bloody long.
But what I really want to hear from you experience builders is this, what do you do when a builder goes beyond the contracted date? How would you handle the compensation? My contract gives me a meagre $250 per week. I want to know if there's anything else we could do?
House was supposed to be ready by June. Now having issues with the council and taking forever to fix the defects given to them in the final inspection.
Also, I'm told that we can move in with the occupancy permit and council really do not need to get involved. But my council came and gave a spot check and identified issues with fencing and that the drainage isn't high enough - as the house slab was raised. On hind sight, its a good thing the council came and spot check and reprimanded the builder. If not we would have inherited the problem, although technically they would not get passed the 7 year warranty period.
What do I do? This delay can't continue to go on, and on and on.
