Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 09, 2016 7:22 pm Hi all, Just wondering from others experiences what the outcome will be of a 50mm alfresco step down with recessed track stacker doors? We want minimal step down so as not to defeat the purpose of the recessed tracks. Outside flooring no idea what we will eventually put down if anything but will be concrete for a while. If we were to tile eventually what depth would this come to usually? Thanks in advance just second guessing now and want to finalise it before it's too late :/ Re: Alfresco step down heights 2Oct 09, 2016 7:31 pm Well in all honestly you don't have much choice other than to keep it concrete, unless you went tile,a deck would have been nice, 50mm is a reasonable step down why 50mm? Re: Alfresco step down heights 3Oct 09, 2016 7:38 pm Maybe with tile would bring it up to 40mm depending on the tile, 40mm recess is nice especially for cleaning of area(using hose or gerni), or delete Slab and do deck Re: Alfresco step down heights 4Oct 09, 2016 8:40 pm Thanks for the reply lochiethechippy we were told by the builder that's the smallest they will do, was originally 100mm. The site supervisor thinks 50mm is too small as in we wouldn't be able to put any floor covering onto the alfresco at some point, but 5cm seems sufficient (in my mind no experience though). How thick are tiles and grout usually externally? Re: Alfresco step down heights 5Oct 09, 2016 8:51 pm It's so water can't enter the dwelling, tile and glue would be 10mm max at the very max only way to get around it would be to say it's for wheel chair access or storm water in alfresco Re: Alfresco step down heights 6Oct 09, 2016 8:55 pm LochietheChippy It's so water can't enter the dwelling, tile and glue would be 10mm max at the very max only way to get around it would be to say it's for wheel chair access or storm water in alfresco Thanks again yeah I didn't think it would be too thick will ask again when I see them next. My thoughts were that the slab should be poured high enough so water doesn't reach generally for the house as it is (no risk area) and then from what I've read it should be sloped away from the door so no pooling occurs. Dunno why they make it seem so dangerous so we second guess it. Re: Alfresco step down heights 7Oct 09, 2016 9:11 pm You never know what the concrete is doing haha, all the best with it always go with your gut feeling that's all I can say Re: Alfresco step down heights 8Oct 09, 2016 9:31 pm Step down should work with brick courses 50mm don't work Re: Alfresco step down heights 9Oct 09, 2016 9:45 pm Narrewarren01 Step down should work with brick courses 50mm don't work I've no idea how it will look or what's the best way we just said we wanted it flush from inside to out and up until recently were told yeah no problems then was told 100mm was it I did some research and saw other builds were doing it less and said that to them and then they said ok we can do 50mm but that's it. Is this a bad idea? I just want it to look nice and be comfortable walking in and out so not sure which will give the best outcome? Re: Alfresco step down heights 10Oct 12, 2016 7:21 pm 50mm is fine are you getting Facebrick or render the step up is 30mm and wanting it to be flat . how much does the concrete have to be lowered .we plan on removing bath and lenghten shower and adding seat. the old bath… 0 11829 Do I need to concern about this pattern of crack? Is this crack showing some signs of bigger problems? Thanks for any suggestions! 1 1911 Take a pick with a level sittingo n the slab and a pick with a level sitting on the sill please. This will help us diagnose the issue and therefore a solution. RE,… 8 9369 |
