Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 06, 2016 10:16 am Hi there have just found out about all the the media and stories of how bad these companies are and how people's homes are just sitting with no progress for months and months, as well as the company not paying tradie's. we are about to start building with Newstart which is the QLD name from this the same company, we have signed contracts but bank hasnt handed over any money yet and we are having colour selection tomorrow! It hasn't been mentioned in the reports but i am really worried that it seems the company is having massive money issues. i suppose i am just after some advice on if you know if Newstart is the same or what you would do in this situation? i don't even know where to go to get some clarification on whether it runs the same up here. thanks so much. Re: Ashford, Huxley question 2Oct 06, 2016 8:09 pm My first recommendation would be to talk to your builder and try to find out the facts as they know them. They are probably already fielding similar enquiries, so they should have some sort of 'statement'. Re: Ashford, Huxley question 3Oct 07, 2016 1:07 am Have you seen other homes around you being built by the same company? Might give you an idea if Newstart is beset by the same problems. Huxley homes in Sydney have been taking a long time to build. Our neighbours built with Huxley and it took a little over two years from the time Huxley took control of the site to the time they got their keys. Almost half a year down the track, there are still some unfinished jobs, albeit minor. It may be an issue with the parent company and not just the state divisions, definitely do your homework on this one. Re: Ashford, Huxley question 4Oct 07, 2016 6:19 pm Thank so much for your replies, We got our solicitor onto it and she did a lot of research and checks on the company, turns out they are not a company and not ran by the same people, apparently Huxley and Ashford are ran by sales people and that is causing the problems as they are not running it correctly, Newstarts credit score was amazing and the company is in a very positive place finally which is a relief, She said she didn't find any reason to steer us away from them. I am feeling a lot better knowing they are not ran by the same people and don't all share money. You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want. Cabinetmakers use MDF because its cheap… 2 9959 I would say both styles you have pictured are steel. The lower chord of the first pic would be a massive lump if made using timber considering the size of the rafters. If… 1 6151 1 13124 |
